Forging and pressing equipment

Forging and pressing equipment is a type of machine tools that are used to process metal products by forging, cutting, bending, stamping, pressing, etc.

There are many varieties of forging and pressing equipment. The main operation of this class of equipment is cold forging. Usually these units are computer controlled or semi-automatic.

Forging and pressing equipment makes it possible to work with a finished product or workpiece due to the direct influence of the tool. Machines of this class have become indispensable for many industries, and their convenience and compactness contribute to widespread use.

All forging and pressing machines and mechanisms are divided into three main categories according to the criterion of universality:

  • general purpose. Such equipment is suitable for the manufacture of most products by forging or stamping, they perform the vast majority of typical processes;
  • customized. Devices of this category specialize in certain technological processes. They are often used for serial production of the same type of products;
  • special. Equipment of this type is selected not only based on the processes that can be performed on them, but also taking into account the specifics of the final product.

Regardless of the type of construction, overall dimensions and specifics, the installation of forging and pressing equipment should be carried out exclusively by specialists in the industry. This guarantees long and trouble-free operation of the units and the proper performance of production tasks.

According to the principle of energy transfer, forging and pressing equipment is divided into:

  • hydraulic presses and hammers;
  • rotary shears and machines;
  • rotary units, aggregates and machines;
  • presses, shears and other crank type machines;
  • forging machines that use gas, vacuum or liquid media;
  • reel and rope presses;
  • impulse presses.

Each of the varieties has its own design differences, different performance and is used for the manufacture of almost any product by forging, hot or cold stamping.
